Update - 19th February 2010
Pilot Forum
FBGA support this Pilot Forum initiative which is wholly independent of the Scottish Government and the organizations including Quarriers.
We have been informed that there will be 3 Commissioners and a small secretariat to support the Commissioners carry out their functions and role.
FBGA believe that, given the Scottish Human Rights Commission recommendations and Commissioners with an appropriate remit and mandate, that this should be viewed by all former children of Quarriers Homes, who's experience was not what it should have been while in that organization's past care, as a positive 1st step.
We must all recognise that the Pilot Forum is purely the start of a process to deal with the historical abuse issues in Scotland. We recognise also that there may be issues and hurdles along the way in the deliberations and discussions. Expectations will be raised but we would ask former Quarriers residents to be patient and engage with the PILOT FORUM.
By engaging and contributing to the Pilot Forum, individually and collectively, former Quarriers residents will be providing the basis for the Commissioners to enable the Pilot Forum to achieve its Aims and Objectives.
It is expected that the Pilot Forum will commence around March 2010 - April 2010 and last until the year end. The process involving Quarriers residents will take approximately 3 months to interview and collect all the testimonies.
How invitees are invited and contacted will be clarified by the Commissioners in due course and we will pass on any information that we are provided with concerning the Pilot Forum processes.
FBGA will be happy to provide advice and guidance to those individuals who wish and seek this concerning any issues or concerns that you may have regarding the Pilot Process and you can email the group at fbga1@aol.com
FBGA will in the coming weeks and months provide further updates when appropriate as to what information and guidance may be helpful and appropriate to assist you individually to access the Pilot Forum.
